FDP Session by Dr. Vijesh Jain on Principles of Sustainable Competitive Advantage

“A FDP was organised on 29th June, Thursday at I.T.S, Ghaziabad campus. The topic of the FDP was - Principles of 'Sustainable Competitive Advantage'. The main speaker of the session was Dr. Vijesh Jain, Professor, I.T.S, Ghaziabad. The FDP covered several topics of current interest in strategic management, marketing and governance based on the theme of the topic. The changing role of the business in society in the current context was deliberated and discussed among the participating faculty members who asked several questions to the speaker and which were duly debated. The session was highly interactive and intense in nature. The participant reported that the discussion was very useful for bringing about change in the direction of management concepts being taught in the class and will help update the concepts with the changing business and geopolitical environment across the world.

The FDP covered several new theories propounded by Sir Michael Porter including the theory of Scale, theory of shared value, theory of advantage by cluster approach and other ideas. These ideas are in line with the current changes taking place in businesses. It was argued by the speaker that the perception of entrepreneur about what their business does in the society and perception about the society what a business does are converging for good and so are the goals of the businesses and the governments. It was further argued that government partnership with businesses is must in the current context for the benefit of the business as well as the society. It was also discussed that governments and NGOs have limited resources to carry out welfare job effectively. This gap can be filled by the role of businesses as societal problem solver rather than societal problems creator.

Prof. Anuja Roy attended workshop on “Brand Consumption & Culture” at ICC, New Delhi.

Prof. Anuja Roy attended a half a day workshop on “Brand Consumption & Culture” on March 6, 2015 at India International Centre, Max Mueller Road, New Delhi.

Researchers have been working hard on the Brand, Consumption & Culture aspects of the products consumers consume. The landscape of branding is not limited to the name Logo, or even the image, but has far extended within the fibers of each singular aspect of Brand identity. Due to the various traditions and social aspects of culture, the field of marketing is expanding now towards culture where consumption is considered as a social & cultural activity, and it is no more a linear function. The cultural paradigm holds of vital importance to understand the Brand Consumption Culture.

The workshop was organized by Ms. Arbuda Sharma. Arbuda is a researcher and consultant in the area of Brand Consumption Culture, at XLRI Jamshedpur. Presently attempting to develop a framework of Brand Consumption Culture. The workshop focussed on the impact of culture on branding. The session explored various case studies on Kellog’s in India, MTV in India, Citibank. Further, topics such as input elements comprising of brand identity, brand persona, brand communication, Hofstede’s cultural dimensions were discussed.

The workshop witnessed participation from Industry and Academicia. It has been a platform to share experiences on the topic.

Marketing FDP on the theme “India 2020: Readiness for cutting edge marketing” held on 20th June, 2014

A Faculty Development Programme on the theme “India 2020: Readiness for cutting edge marketing” for the faculty members of I.T.S, Ghaziabad was organized at I.T.S Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad campus on 20th June, 2014. The event was organized with an objective to provide faculty members about their readiness for cutting edge marketing for the year 2020.

The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. B.S.Hothi, Director Management, Sr. Prof. C.K. Sabharwal & Coordinators of this event Dr.V.N. Bajpai & Dr. Mukesh Porwal. In his welcome address, Dr. Hothi welcomed all faculty members and said that technology is changing very fast in the new era, therefore, it is very important for all of us to keep updating ourselves with the use of latest technologies.

After the inauguration ceremony, Prof. C.K. Sabharwal shared his valuable inputs on the theme “India 2020: Readiness for cutting edge marketing”. After that Prof. Lalit Sharma conducted his session on marketing strategies of pharmaceutical companies for the year 2020. Dr. V.N. Bajpai took his session on the Challenges in E-commerce adaption by SMEs in India. Dr. Satish Kumar said that the global companies should always consider local adaptation for their continuous growth. The first session ended with the importance of big data taken by Prof. A.P. Tripathi.

The second session was initiated by Prof. Vinita Srivastava on Brand recall & Brand engagement. After that Prof. G.N. Srivastava talked on importance of Neuro Marketing for the future growth of all companies. Dr. S. Bhattacharya shared his views on application of retail service quality.

The last session was started by Dr. Mukesh Porwal on sectoral analysis of Selected Indian services for the year 2020. Prof. A.R. Mishra conducted his session on discriminent model.

On this occasion, various faculty members from other streams also participated and enriched their knowledge.

A one day FDP on "Futuristic Learning in Economics, Market Research & Global Business" was held on 27th May, 2013 at I.T.S, Ghaziabad. FDP dealt with areas of prime importance with a potential to become the areas of futuristic learning. In order to gather skills in these areas for imparting special and differentiating skills to I.T.S students, it was really an interesting and useful faculty development program.

    The FDP covered following topics:
  • Future Gateway of Logistics in India with special reference to 4 PL logistics (By Prof. V.K. Arora)
  • Applications of Direct Marketing Analysis in Online Shopping (by Prof. Dushayant Tyagi)
  • Futuristic Banking Technologies: Economic and Business Feasibility in India, by (Prof. Parul)
  • Applications of Structural Equation Modelling (By Prof. A . R. Mishra)
  • Future issues of Cross Cultural Management in MNEs (By Prof. Vijesh Jain)

There were a total of 15 participants who took active part in discussions including 3 participants from I.T.S Greater Noida Campus. All participants were given "participation certificates".

The FDP was held under the supervision of Prof. Vijesh Jain, Area Chair – General Management.

I.T.S-Java Club organized a workshop on "JSP and Servlet using RAD"

A Workshop on on “JSP & Servlet using RAD” was organized by I.T.S-Java Club on 20 January, 2012. Prof. Gaurav Midha, Prof. KP Singh and Prof. Abhay Kr. Ray were the resource persons. Total 90 (ninety only) students of MCA IIrd year IV Semester participated in the workshop. This workshop was in view to facilitate the students for practical implantation of JSP in TGMC projects. The following topics were covered in the workshop • Introduction to MVC using RAD • Servlet & life cycle of Servlet, JDBC • JSP compilation and deployment JDBC • MVC implementation At the end of the workshop a quiz was conducted to evaluate the performance of the students and to encourage the competitive spirit among them.
