Financial Modeling Workshop organized for PGDM (2018-20) Batch

Department of Management at I.T.S - Mohan Nagar organized a Workshop to enhance the knowledge and practical exposure on the topic “Financial Modeling” for PGDM IV Trimester Finance specialization students on Saturday, September 28, 2019.

Prominent industry leader Mr. Kapil Kalra (National Head at L&T Infrastructure Finance Co Ltd) took up the workshop and introduced the basic concepts of Financial Modeling relevant to the current scenario to the Finance Specialization students of PGDM (2018-20) batch.

Students got the opportunity to know the concept of hard cost and soft cost, IDC (Interest during construction), project cost and DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio) along with their practical application. Students also got chance to interact with the guest and cleared their relevant doubts and queries regarding the practical problems faced during equity valuation and others.

Dr. Anusha Aggarwal (Head of Finance Department) concluded the session with vote of thanks.

Utthan - Activity - “Save Environment, Save Earth

Utthan, a CSR initiative of Department of Management at I.T.S - Mohan Nagar, Ghaziabad organized a session on how to save environment and earth for school students in the college campus. Student volunteers of management department explained the students different ways to save the environment  and how pollution can be reduced.

In the first segment of the activity, students were taken to computer labs. In this, they were asked to prepare the posters on the given theme with the help of MS Paint which they have been learning so far. Many students made beautiful posters on the given theme using different tools of MS Paint.

In the second session, students presented their views on how to save the environment and their posters were shown to all in the auditorium. Students were also shown motivational videos for the same which they admired a lot. 

Best presentations along with posters were awarded with gifts and prizes. 

Dr. Nitin Saxena and Prof. Shilpi Rana, Faculty Coordinators of Utthan Club and Dr. Durba Roy, Head - CRC along with student volunteers felicitated the event by distributing Prizes to all the winners of the activity. 

All the students were given refreshment at the end of the session.

On the 25th of September, 2019, Department of Management, I.T.S Mohan Nagar organized Industrial visit for PGDM First Year (2019-21) students to IMT Manesar, Gurugram of NBC Bearing Limited.

The group was received by Mr. Rahul Agarwal arranged for refreshments for the students. Then they were briefed about his role, followed by the history of the company and process of production. NBC BEARING LTD, has 4 plants (2 in Jaipur, 1 in Vadodara,1 in Gurugram. Mother plant of NBC Bearing is in Jaipur which was established in 1947 and the plant in Gurugram was established in 2006.

After this head of production unit conducted a production process visit in company for the students. Numbers of questions were put forward by students. These related to diverse areas like operations, production, supply chain, HR and marketing.

Video Conferencing session organized on Future of Data- Data Protection, Data Privacy and Data Localization

Department of Management Studies of Institute of Technology & Science, Ghaziabad organized a Video Conferencing session on Future of Data- Data Protection, Data Privacy and Data Localization” for PGDM students on 25.9.2019.

Mr. Ajay Kumar, Regional Managing Director- Asia Pacific Entrust Data Card, Singapore was the expert for the session. Mr Ajay covered the topics related to data privacy, vigilance to be shown from user’s side while using IOT, Artificial Intelligence and wi-fi, available in public domain. He also covered legislative and regulatory developments in field of data protection in India and world - wide.

Students raised questions with the speaker and gained information on contemporary issues related to Internet security.

Alumni Guest Lecture

I.T.S Ghaziabad organized a guest lecture for second year PGDM (2018-20) Batch students on 23rdSeptember, 2019 on “Channel Management in FMCG Industry”. The guest for the session was Mr. Abhishek Das, Sales Executive, Mondelez and Ms. Parul Garg, Distribution Partners Manager, Red Bull.

The lecture started with the introduction of Distribution Channels and its importance in the FMCG Industry. The guests then explained about the distribution and various types of distribution channels. They also gave insights about the various distributor profiles. The discussion then went on by making the students aware about the importance of visibility in Traditional Trade. It also gave the students an idea about the various terms that are being used in the traditional trade such as Productivity, Coverage Expansion and Effective Coverage. The students also got an idea about the range selling and how important it is to merchandise our product in the retailer outlet. While talking about Modern Trade, the students got an idea about the type of customers that might appear in regular Modern Trade stores and also the importance of merchandising in those stores. The students also learned about commonly used terms in modern trade such as share of shelf, eye level, bay, end cap etc. Carrying the discussion forward the guests also discussed about the institutional trade channel and its significance.

The session was very knowledgeable and helpful for the students as it gave them a wholesome knowledge of distribution, distribution channels and its application in the FMCG Industry.The students found the session very interactive and full of knowledge.

‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme

Department of Management at I.T.S Ghaziabad conducted ‘Parivartan’ – The Slum Education Programme on 22nd September, 2019, covering the topics of G.K. and environmental awareness, with some learning activity thrown in between.

The session opened with general awareness class, as Upasna and Ashish tried to enthuse the children with nuggets on the record holders in the country in terms of the tallest buildings, longest train route, highest lake, etc. Some of these were known to the kids, but many more turned out to be eye openers. A revision session was held in the end to confirm that the day’s information had been absorbed.

Next a fun learning activity was initiated by Megha as the learners were made to come forward and stand in a line. A sequence of steps were taught to the first person in the line. The idea was to train on retention of concepts and their effective communication to others. Those who performed well were rewarded with toffees.

The last part of the day’s programme consisted of a status check regarding the environmental awareness of the kids. They were invited to face the class and speak on why protecting the environment was of utmost importance. It was revealing to see several of children demonstrating their clear ideas on the topics with utmost conviction. The best speakers were given I.T.S Mohan Nagar caps as recognition for their efforts.

The day then drew to a close with the distribution of packets of ‘Bikano Bikaneri Bhujia’ and ‘Parle Mango Bite’ toffees. Dr. Indraneel Mandal accompanied and motivated the student volunteers.

Expert talk on “Employee Compensation & Performance Management” for PGDM-IV trimester and MBA-III semester HR specialization students

Department of Management Studies, Institute of Technology & Science organized an expert talk on the topic “Employee Compensation & Performance Management” for PGDM-IV trimester and MBA-III semester HR specialization students on September 21, 2019.

Expert for the session was Mr. Renny K, Manager- Compensation and Benefit, HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd.

Mr. Renny K focused on compensation strategy, factors affecting strategy and latest trends in compensation and benefits. He elaborated various job evaluation methods in practice like Hay method, Towers Watson method, Mercer method of job evaluation etc.  He talked about the role of performance management in talent management. He gave the overview of compensation management & gave practical insights related to type of payouts comprising of pay for role and pay for performance. He also shared corporate world examples to highlight current trends in benefits and variable pay plans. Guest lecture ended with deep insight on how the performance is linked with the rewards in an organization and how it can be used for the achievement of an organizational goal. Session was full of corporate insights and learning for the students and it was coordinated by Dr. Charu Chaudhry.

Summer Internship Project Competition “Anubhav-2019”


Department of Management Studies of Institute of Technology &Science, Ghaziabad organized 6th Summer Internship Project Competition “Anubhav -2019” for PG Management students on 21st September 2019

with an objective to provide a platform to the budding managers to share their first hand experiences, learning and ideas gained during their almost two months association with corporate in recent past during their Summer internship. Event was a big hit as more than 40 participants from various management Institutions of NCR shared their presentations based on their experiences and learning during summer internship.  All the presentations were evaluated on parameters like Research methodology, analysis and findings, suggestions, logical flow and control over presentation.

The event started with the welcome address of Director Management, Dr.Vidya Sekhri. Dr. Puneet Kumar presented the overview of the programme and highlighted different dimensions of the SIP. 

Shri Sushil Kumar Agarwal, Founder and chairman was the Chief Guest of the event. In his inaugural address Mr. Agarwal mentioned that learning is a life long journey, one should keep stick to the fundamentals to achieve not only shot term success but also long term advantage. He emphasized on knowing and believing our values system. SIP competition witnessed presentation in different tracks, each track was judged by external judges. Dr. Sanjiv Mittal, Dr.Rajnikant Verma and Mr. Anurag Sharma was the session judges and gave their inputs to the participating students.

The registration for  SIP Competition were from various management institutions of NCR like, AKGIM – Ghaziabad, Faculty of Management Studies, BHU, FORE school of Management, New Delhi , IMS, Ghaziabad , ITS, Mohan Nagar, Jaipur School of Business, Indirapuram, K.R. Mangalam University, Sohna, Gurugram, Maharaja Agarsen, RDAIS – Delhi, and Jaipuria Institute of Management- NOIDA.. After the daylong presentations at four different venues, cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners of various categories

Department of Management organized Two Days Workshop on“Advance Statistical Tools in Marketing Research”

Department of Management organized a Two Days Demonstrative workshop on “Advance statistical tools in Marketing Research” for Marketing Research and Information System specialization participants from PGDM 2018-20 Batch, conducted by Dr.Garima Srivastav.


The workshop started with introduction of basic fundamentals of statistical tools widely used in Marketing Research. The Participants were also deliberated with the importance of Marketing Research and its future implication in Analytics.

First Day of the workshop started with the conceptual framework of EFA and CFA and its difference. The use and importance of SEM through AMOS was also highlighted. Exploratory Factor Analysis was explained by reviewing research papers from Emerald and SSCI/SCOPUS/ABDC Journals. Various technical terms like KMO Statics, PCA, Extract, Rotation method, Display, Maximum Iterations for Convergence, Save scores as variables, Display factor score coefficient matrix, Missing Values, Coefficient Display Format used in EFA were discussed in detailed.

A practice case study and Excel Sheet was provided to the all the participants wherein they were given the questionnaire based on various attributes of perception, they were also rationalized to code and Feed the data in the datasheet of SPSS. Thereafter, analysing the objective of the case they were instructed to apply the EFA and Allocate Names to the factors obtained from the reduced data. The detailed analysis and interpretation was further discussed with the Participants.

On the Second Day of Workshop, the use of Paired Sample T Test, ANOVA were explained with the help of various cases/Excel Sheet and Practice Question. Varied Assumptions were also discussed in detail. Quality Published Research Paper were taken as a Reference. Taking these research papers under consideration and evaluating their objectives and hypothesis, Participants were also explained the need and application of these research tools.

Hand-outs of major SPSS Commands were also handed over to the participants. During the series of discourse, the positive suggestions and feedbacks were also shared by Participants. In the end, All the Participants were felicitated with participation certificates.

Faculty Attended AIMA 46th National Management Convention

Dr. Shuchita Singh, Prof. Ritu Saxena & Prof. Jyotsana  Vaid, Faculty of Management Department alongwith the Director (Management) , Dr. Vidya Sekhri at I.T.S, Ghaziabad attended AIMA's 46th National Management Convention “Creating an Innovative India” on 17th & 18th September, 2019 at  Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi.

The event started with the welcome address by Mr. Neotia, President, AIMA mentioned about increasing global share and global trade governance. Mr. Sanjeev Goenka, Past President, AIMA and Chairman, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group mentioned about efficiency and innovation in Birla group which has multiplied Birla group by 25 times.Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman, Aditya Birla Group mentioned about global uncertainty and he talked about the longerterm view for India to become world’s largest economy.
He mentioned unique Indian way of globalisation covered that bilateral trade between China and USA will be closer.

Mr.Singhania mentioned India as pool of young talent and entrepreneurs. India need to find local solutions to local problems. Mr. Sanjeev Goenka introduced Mr.Amit Shah, Hon. Home Minister, Government of India talked about iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards the sovereignty of India. He talked about multiparty parliamentary system in 2014.  He mentioned that growth in agricultural and industrial has been taken hand in hand. Mr.Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Law and Justice; Communications; Electronics and IT, Government of India mentioned that if India want to emerge there has to be emphasized on reform, perform in order to transform.
In Next session Pranjal Sharma being the session moderator asked the purpose of AI and Mr. Amod Malviya explained AI as a medium to give personalised access to intelligence. Mr. Sandipan mentioned AI as logical programmingand further ad technological astrology. Amod referred AI as GPT(general purpose technology). Mr. Amod updated that UDDAN is a B2B company, where they deal in fraud detection, forecasting demand, logistics network design, on real time basis. Mr. Rishab talked about identifying skills through AI.

Panel Discussion Economic Reforms for New India was graced by the presence of Sudhir Jalan Chairman, Neo Foods Pvt. Ltd. Panelists Vikram Singh Mehta Chairman, Brookings India & Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution Ajit Ranade Group Executive President and Chief Economist, Aditya Birla Group Akhil Bansal Deputy CEO, KPMG in India TN Ninan Chairman, Business Standard Pvt Limited. In this session major points discussed were measures to boost GDP, support to SME and ease of business to SME.

Panel Discussion Making India a $ 5 trillion-dollar economy in the next 5 years, was actually a good discussion between Mr. Sanjeev Sanyal Principal Economic Adviser in Ministry of Finance Government of India and Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal Past President AIMA & Chairman, Hero Enterprise.

Last session of the day was Ease of mobility: Innovations for faster, safer transportation, witnessed a very motivating address by Mr. Nitin Gadkari Minister of Road Transport & Highways; Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Government of India, who shared the developments been taken to increase transport through water ways and developing network of industrial corridors.

First session of next day was Panel Discussion: - Innovation first: Disruption as Strategy followed by the session Winning in the Digital World, Panel Discussion: - Reviving Growth: An Imperative for India and Creative Nation: Fostering a Culture of Innovation. In this session Mr. Amitabh Kant CEO, NITI Aayog emphasized on India needs to move on from adoption and adaptation of innovations to creating previously unthinkable technologies, processes, products and services. Innovation is not about meeting the needs but about redefining the needs, and it demands a big shift in everyday attitudes and practices.

The Convention was a great experience.
