FDP on "Strategy in India" attended by Dr. Abhinav P. Tripathi at MDI, Gurgaon.
Dr. Abhinav P. Tripathi has participated in FDP on "Strategy in India" on 29th May 2015 at Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon.
During the session the expert on board has suggested that the concept of strategy is centuries old. However, business strategy field has come into picture mainly in the last century. It was also analyzed that for the major part of the last century the focus of business strategy has been primarily on the USA, Western Europe and Japan and in their context. It is understandable because firstly, Europe has taken lead in the Industrial Revolution and USA became the dominant economic power post World War II followed by Western Europe and later joined by Japan.
In the second session they emphasized that the interest in strategy in Indian context has gained currency in last decade of twentieth century particularly post liberalization of 1991. Preliberalization, the main strategy, if any, was to get government license and serve the big lucrative Indian market. Liberalization brought not only foreign competition but also opened Indian companies to the strategic concepts and tools with the incoming of strategic consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG etc.
The objective of this FDP is to look at various aspects of teaching strategic management in the Indian context.
