Day one began with a micro lab where the participants introduced themselves to others and warmed up for the sessions. The first session was conducted by Prof. G. K. Dwivedi on Essentials of Effective Communication which was followed by the second session on Effective English Communication. Prof. Dwivedi discussed the basics of effective communication and the most common errors of English grammar made by the Indians. He also conducted a practical exercise on letter writing.

The second day of the SDP started with the nuances of non-verbal communication shared by Capt. Sonia Singh through an exercise followed by a discussion amongst the participants. She also discussed Attitude and Etiquette at the work place which saw the participants going through the experiential learning. The last session of the SDP conducted by Capt. Sonia was on Personal Grooming. The session informed the participants of corporate dressing. It also emphasized on creating a positive impression in organizations.

The objective of this workshop was to make students aware about the Research analytics through R, and to provide basic training in understanding the core techniques and concepts in Data science and R Programming.

The workshop on Research analytics through R was conducted by Mr. Abhishek Goswami, Founder, GRAP. He focused on how to program in R and how to use R for effective data analysis. While addressing the students he also mentioned that how to install and configure software necessary for a statistical programming environment and describe generic programming language concepts as they are implemented in a high level statistical analysis. The workshop covered practical issues in statistical computing which included programming in R, reading data into R, accessing R package, writing R functions, debugging, profiling R code, and organizing and commenting R codes. He said that R programming language is the most widely used language in Data Science and Analytics and with the rise of Big Data and data science, its growth and popularity is boundless. R also has a superb IDE, R Studio, facilitating reproducible research that helps to exploring, modelling, and visualizing data naturally. Extensive training was provided using R for the Statistical analysis with deep focus on real life / business problems.

At the end of this workshop students Understood Data Science and its applications, became familiar with Big data concepts, exposed to R Programming and related data analysis techniques. The workshop was also attended by faculty members of the institute including Prof. Sunil Upadhyay, Prof. Ajay Sinha, Dr. V. N. Bajpai, Dr. Satish Kumar, Dr. A P Tripathi, Prof. Alok Singh and Dr. Charu Chaudhary .

The session ended with vote of thanks to Mr. Abhishek for providing such a wonderful insights on Research through R. Overall the entire workshop was very interactive and informative for all the participants.
